Last week felt like more of a finale than this. So they’re just ditching the mole plot? Also that ending was so predictable. I’m not happy that they’re stretching this kill Joe’s kidnappers plot to the next season especially with so many wasted episodes in this season. Disappointing

For those wondering, the reason Volcanica repeats the same words when she encounters Emilia is because she has been in the Watchtower for hundreds of years and has become mentally worn down over time. Volcanica's body is still strong and alive, but her long period of almost inaction has prevented her mind from functioning normally. Therefore, instead of having a normal conversation with Emilia, she begins to repeatedly say words related to her duty in the tower and the Maia Exam. Emilia initially thinks this is her fault and tries to introduce herself, but Volcanica's behavior doesn't change. Because the problem isn't what Emilia is saying, but Volcanica's mental state. More importantly, Volcanica hasn't completely lost consciousness. She can sometimes remember past events and people; memories of Flügel, Reid, Shaula, and the old Lugunica era still exist in parts of her mind. So her memory hasn't been completely erased, but her consciousness fluctuates between the past and the present. Therefore, Volcanica's repetition of the same words is actually a result of her being stuck in her duty in the tower. When Emilia later progresses as required by the test, a change is observed in Volcanica's behavior, and it becomes clear that the dragon's true consciousness has not yet been completely lost. In short, the reason Volcanica says the same words is not because Emilia made a mistake or Volcanica didn't recognize her; it's because centuries of waiting have worn down Volcanica's mind, binding her to her old duty in the tower.
