Here's my review of Adventure Time, one of the best cartoons I have ever watched. What fascinates me the most about this show is the incredible originality that the writers have by being able to create a cartoon with over two hundred episodes that not only fulfills its purpose of entertaining children but also manages to keep adults hooked on the show in the same way. Adventure Time starts off as what appears to be a simple story, very original but simple after all, with absurd and abstract humor (which sometimes you can feel works and sometimes not), which ultimately results in a formula that often works in cartoons. What sets this show apart from other similar shows is the writers' quest to create a universe and to explain the reasoning behind most of the absurd things that happen in the series, even if they have to be explained with even more absurd elements. Aside from the writers' originality and their famous "lore," this cartoon is able to stand tall due to another one of its strongest points, its characters, which are absolutely unique. I would like to make a special mention of Finn the Human, a character whom I initially found somewhat overrated because of what I had heard about him as a protagonist, as I found him quite ordinary even for a cartoon. But it's as the series progresses (and as he matures) that Finn becomes one of the best characters in the series (if not the best) and one of the best protagonists of cartoons I've seen. Jake complements one of the funniest dynamics I've ever seen on television in general, especially Jake has been the character that has made me laugh the most and personally my favorite in the series. The other main characters like Princess Bubblegum, Marceline, or Ice King (especially Ice King ❤️) recieve the same character development/depth as Finn, becoming deep and interesting characters for a cartoon. As for the side cast, I have little to say, one of the best and most charismatic side casts I've seen on television in general. In conclusion, Adventure Time is a cartoon that starts off as one with an episodic format which tries to seek some laughs to evolve into a complex and even deep work at times without ceasing to address the audience it wants to target. I consider Adventure Time to be one of the best cartoons of our generation and possibly also of all time.
